HIS STYLE

His Style can be called Upgraded Modern. Anikonov is using the borrowed from the 19th Century Western artists modern style as a fulcrum, and reincarnates it while leaving its basic concept untouched. Aestheticism, form domination, dualism of the real and the imaginary.

The artist uses wide expressive brushwork filled with daring inspiration and deep feeling. He paints from life enthusiastically trying to catch the changing light and capture the vivid sensation of the beauty of the objective reality, all encoded in symbols.

HIS LATEST THEMES

Industrial landscapes are a relatively new phenomenon in Anikonov's creative work. He who was born in the industrial monotony of a working town developed an ability to soar to the heights of the fantasy canvasses a la Vrubel and show an industrial scene not just as a piece of reality but as an approximation meant to render the colossal might of the scene and the powers of creation.
